Current shock absorbers available for your motor home were originally designed for cars and light duty pickup trucks. These passenger car and light duty truck shocks are marginally effective of large motor homes. Passenger cars and light duty trucks generally have a gross vehicle weight of 5000 to 8000 pounds. Motor homes can weight upwards of 20,000 to 50,000 pounds. Motor Homes are generally 11 feet high and require up to ten times more damping control forces then passenger cars or light duty trucks. RoadKing motor home big bore mono tube shock absorbers are much more effective in controlling high profile and heavy motor homes, especially when compared to conventional small bore shocks that were not originally intended for heavy motor homes. To try and simplify the differences in performance capability we are talking about requires an explanation of the differences in shock absorber designs. Current shocks available on all motor homes have a bore size from 1 3/8" bore to 1 3/4" bore. These shock bore sizes were originally designed for passenger cars and light duty trucks.
